About Ken

Ken was raised in Eastern Kentucky where he attended Hazel Green Academy and graduated second in his class. He attended Lees College in Jackson where he graduated with many honors including divisional awards in Political Science and Government. He was an honors graduate from Lees College where he received his Associates Degree. Ken went on to attend Morehead State University where he double majored in Political Science and History, and received an award for excellence in Political Science.
During his time at Morehead State University and before graduating with honors, he served in Frankfort during the 1984 General Assembly working with the Legislative Research Commission. Ken was accepted into multiple law schools before receiving a full scholarship to Salmon P. Chase College of Law where he was a Commonwealth’s Scholar.
Upon graduation, Ken opened a private office and began work as a civil attorney. He handled divorces, adoptions, custody and criminal work. He served the community representing the poor as a public advocate. In 1992, Ken was sworn in as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney for the 16th Judicial District. He concentrated on child abuse cases, collection of child support and family related crimes. He won many cases on behalf of the Commonwealth dealing with major crimes such as murder, rape, burglary and sexual offenses. Ken has argued cases in the Appellate Courts as a Special Assistant Attorney General.
In 1996, with an act of special legislation from the Kentucky General Assembly, Ken became one of the first prosecutors to serve in both the County Attorney’s Office as well as the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office. Ken served as the Chief Juvenile Prosecutor from 1996 to 2000. He was appointed to the Northern Kentucky Juvenile Delinquency Prevention Counsel and assisted in funding decisions for juvenile programs in Northern Kentucky.
In 2000, Ken became the Chief Prosecutor for the Kenton County Attorney’s Office which is where he is today. As Chief prosecutor, he manages the day to day operations of the Kenton County Attorney’s Office which has 15 attorneys, staff, law clerks, victim advocates, law student externs and child support enforcement staff.
As Chief Prosecutor, you will find Ken in court daily. He continues to actively prosecute cases in addition to making public appearances and doing public relations on behalf of Kenton County Attorney Garry Edmondson. As a member of the Multi-disciplinary team against Child Sexual Assaults, an educator for police, guardian ad litem, and other attorneys, Ken is active in a leadership role to protect our children.
In addition to Ken’s professional career, he is a professor at Northern Kentucky University where he has been recognized for his positive impact on students and their careers. He also has served the youth of the community as a little league coach and soccer coach. Ken has served as the ScoutReach district Chairman for the Dan Beard Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
